1 Thessalonians 5:19-22Do not quench the Spirit. Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil. In this passage we are told to uphold the spirits fire, i.e. gifts, we are also told to treat prophecies with respect. Yet, we are warned to be careful of the message and perhaps even messenger, not all are who they profess to be.Acts 2:17-18“‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. In the verse it tells us that God will pour out a spirit over all his people. And the spirit he is talking about is the spirit of prophecy in all its forms to all it's people, male and female alike, young and old.1 Corinthians 12:4-11There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines. This passage tells us that all gifts are given of the same spirit. Even wisdom, knowledge and faith are considered gifts of the spirit yet we don't discount those. Many of us are given many gifts some are primary and some we have to open ourselves up to. In my practice I find that the one gift I counsel people on the most is faith.1 Corinthians 12:28And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues.

1 Corinthians 14:1-5
Gifts of Prophecy and Tongues Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy. For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit. But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort. 4 He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church. I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. He who prophesies is greater than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may be edified.
Do not doubt and o no be afraid of the prophets of the gift of prophecy. Yes there are many would-be's who are out there. And not all psychics or prophets are the same. This is where a solid spiritual center comes into play as well as divine discernment. You can know the answer to any question especially who trust if you but ask for discernment of the true followers. 1 Corinthians 14:22 Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers; prophecy, however, is for believers, not for unbelievers. If you are a believer in the words and the laws of spirit then prophecy is for you, This the defining moment of what you truly believe.2 Chronicles 20:20 Early in the morning they left for the Desert of Tekoa. As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the LORD your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful.”We are even promised rewards for our faith. |
